Master degree of interior architecture Ensad – 2018
With the support of the Bettencourt Schueller ’s Fondation
With Marie Vialle and the Flav Lab Toulouse

The goal of this diploma project is to reconsider our odorous environment for therapeutic and curative purposes. Fragrances, emotions and memories are closely related. Based on this fact, we have created fragrances to dialogue with our spaces and objects. The first fragrance with an heavy and warm tonality encourages introspection while the second one, cold and bright, wakes up the body. Those scents made,
the next steps was to create odorous materials by mixing for example plaster, clay or wood with
our fragrances. This odorization of materials is a way to allow a passive diffusion of scents in spaces
without involving anything mechanical.

Thanks to the expertise of an artisan-perfumer and his scent-oriented technical input, we develop
two fragrances opposed to one another. Both of them are described by a specific time and temperature
rather than to give them an explanatory name in order to let the interpretation and the feeling free to the user. We only propose to the latter an user manual to let the wider audience enjoy the experience.
An active substance (an essential oil impacting on the body with therapeutic benefit) and a memory-based substance (a smell which reviving memories) are both the main component in each perfume.

Throught this booklet, is shown the different states of the creation of the scents. After choosing the sensorial effects we want, the goal is to turn into fragrances those sensations by establishing a formulation
of odorous accords. The artisan-perfumer’s task is to find a balance between the various odorous extracts.
Thus we get a concentrate of the perfume which is then dilutes in order to get a perfume with only
a concentration to 10%.
