Second Nature

ALVAR AALTO, Second Nature
Partnership : la Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine – Exhibition 2018
With : Clotilde Delahousse and Lucie Saleh

For the exhibition, we consider making a smooth walk-through scenography inspired by the rythmic
and winding shapes of Alvar Aalto’s works. Our wish is to offer a no visual barrier path to visitors.
The demarcation lines of the various areas are carried by an alternance of different materials proper to
Aalto as the brick or the wood. The scenographic devises are not exceed 2.10m to provide an human scale experience. The overall exhibition will be understandable for the entrance by keeping the natural
perpective of the room.

The closed-loop circulation allows the visitor
to discover the four themes one by one
while having an overall vision of the exhibition.
Indeed, the path is cut into four main areas : Alvar Aalto, an introduction; Alvar Aalto, designer and technician; Alvar Aalto,
the international works and Alvar Aalto,
the main architectures.
The materials used for this exhibition have been strategically positioned to create a visual resonance with the different projects of Alvar Aalto featured in this exhibit. In the same idea, the scenic furnitures are echoes of Alvar Aalto’s way to couple his conception of architecture
with natural shapes.
